Wren

Passeriformes | Troglodytidae | Wrens

A tiny but rounded, deep-bellied bird of dense undergrowth and shady places; irascible and inquisitive, with noisy calls and remarkably loud, very fast song.

Widespread and often very abundant, the Wren can be found anywhere from parks and gardens to rocky islands far offshore. Some isolated island groups have their own races. It is rarely seen in the tree tops, preferring low undergrowth, hedgerows, and shrubs.

Common resident and breeder. Easy to spot from the visitor centre.
