Greylag goose

Anseriformes | Anatidae | Ducks, geese, swans

A big goose, marked by pale grey forewings above and below, big orange bill, and pinkish legs, but little or no white on the face or black on the belly.

Familiar as a semi-tame introduced species in some areas, the Greylag is genuinely wild in most of its range. It is a rather heavy-bodied goose, less elegant and romantic than most.

Frequent visitor in September, October.
