Fieldfare

Passeriformes | Turdidae | Thrushes

A bold, handsome, gregarious thrush with a distinctively contrasting grey head and rump, a dark back, and flashing white underwings.

This is a social bird all year round, but particularly familiar in its roaming, chattering winter flocks, when it often mixes with Redwings. It likes farmland with tall, old hedges and trees, as well as bushy heaths.

Winter visitor of the Basin and passage migrant.
